Basically you want 2 cameras looking at the same objects. the cameras 
should be some distance apart and have their axes nearly or wholly 
parallel.
Then, with your mirrors, you get them to virtually overlap in such a way 
that the (one) camera gets these objects in a somewhat different place 
in the image plane (the film as it were).

In my opinion your scheme is correct. What you have to achieve is that 
the two images cannot overlap and that the two images cover the same 
general view.

It should be just a matter of trimming the mirrors and the black screen. 
I could try to draw a more detailed scheme if you'd like me to.
