I was watching a show on TLC or Discovery about submarines and it reminded
me of the good ole days on the boat. This is my version (so far ) of a 637
class fast attack submarine. The boat I was on was the USS Lapon SSN 661
(now decom). Most of the modelling was done in Moray and sPatch for the
planes and rudder. I have alot of work to do on it but thought I would share
it anyway.

I prefer PBS <g>. Actually I don't have cable, but still I think PBS has the
best shows. I mean, come on, it's pretty hard to beat NOVA.

Anyway, IMO the sub would be cooler if it was on a bluer background. :)

Your sub is dangerously close to the bottom of the sea (shadow). When you are
finished make a group of them attacking a whole fleet of warships.

<bad taste>

Or a fleet of Japanese Trawlers.

</bad taste>

Sorry, but given the little incident off Hawaii, the first thing that
sprang to mind when I saw the image was pretty much the above comment.

I'll be quiet now.

Bye for now,
     Jamie.

Very, very nice . . . best looking boat I've seen.

   I was a Navy Nuke . . . Reactor operator . . . loved subs and sub school
but
then Uncle Sam, in his infinite wisdom, decided he needed me in the surface
fleet and stuck me on the USS Enterprise (CVAN-65) in the Tonkin Gulf for
three years. Oh well . . . at least we had liberty in foriegn ports on
occasion
while you guyz spent most of yer time way down there.
  I still love 'em and have many friends who had the privilege of serving in
the Silent Service and they would be jazzed to see some traces of yer boat.
  Any chance of sharing the code ?  If not . . . that's ok . . . but please
continue
to render some scenes.
  And . . . I'm not even gonna attempt to do a model of an aircraft carrier
. . . ;)

Thanks . . . I love it.

  Nice work, buke9. How'd you model the screw? That is the part that has
always given me the most trouble.

  A friend of mine served on the USS Drum SSN 677, now decommissioned
like most of the other 637's. If it's okay with you I'm going to send
him a copy of your image, letting him know it's WIP.
