I'm wondering how you got such smooth focal blur results. Really high
blur samples? (like above 50?)

One tip: use "variance 0" for the best results. For some reason there
seems to be little difference between 1/100000 and (say) 1/500000 but
using 0 gives superior results in many situations. Confidence has much
smaller impact.
