Hi Richard, I realize that my remark on the brightness wasn't completely
correct: the candles did have pixels with near maximum brightness :)
But I agree that your second image has its advantages. The floors I've
seen in churches were never white/red: only white/black, and only in one
Unitarian Church IIRC. The veins in the marble are perhaps a little too
conspicuous.
And now for the various objects that belong in a church :-))

Umm... Where are the buttresses? 'Cos the pillars in between the
windows don't look anywhere near strong enough to support the roof
load...
Otherwise, quite nice, if a little dark on my system.
Bye for now,
Jamie.

A great image, but a few criticisisms, there seems to be
too much contrast in the colours used in the marble tiles,
they look a bit harsh.
And the outside view isn't all that clear, it looks asthough
the church has been plunged into a bath of green water.

yeah, water would work :)
a marble would be good, but less constrasting colors.

For your first attempt, its impressive :) Upon
close examination, the benches could use rounded edges,
and the cieling doesn't seem quite right... But everything
else is excellent! Good work!

Look in the various stone include files (they come with POV), they
contain some excellent textures.

On that same line, perhaps having most of the lighting
come from a bright sun, with the rays streaming through
the windows would give you the lighting you need without
brightening anything inside the church? That would clear up
the view outside, as well as lighting the inside...
