That's only one meaning, one of the alchemical interpretation.
Alchemical also have:
earth, water, fire, air
earth, water, fire, air, wood
earth, water, fire, air, metal
earth, ooze, water, ice, air, smoke, fire, magma
and probably several others depending on the author and local traditions.

I've seen: wood, lightning/energy, fire, air and water

Then, there are the chemical elements, then the mathematical 
definitions, then it's found in legal/legislation context, then...
