I did this image a few years ago. I don't remember the exact numbers as to 
render time and all that, but it took many hours to finish.
This time around I raised photon_count to 64e6 (8000^2) (new hardware) 
rendered it at 4000 x 2250, applied 5p Gaussian blur and scaled it down to 
800 x 450.

Render Time:
  Photon Time:      1 hours  9 minutes 41 seconds (4181.580 seconds)
              using 11 thread(s) with 4853.194 CPU-seconds total
  Radiosity Time:   No radiosity
  Trace Time:       5 hours 45 minutes 46 seconds (20746.923 seconds)
              using 8 thread(s) with 22676.730 CPU-seconds total

Most of the trace time was spend waiting for swap.
