High!

No, I did not throw myself before the occasional gigaliner (these fancy
euro-standard juggernauts) roaring past my wohnklo... instead I
commented out the whole collection of radiosity settings from the last
weeks and added a #version 3.7 directive on top - and miraculously, not
only the contrast returned, but also the bluish tinge dwindled to an
amount consistent with gray_threshold 0.75! Strange, strange, strange...

These computers in general and these raytracers especially are too
difficult to understand for a simple mind like me... see below what I've
got! Perhaps I could increase recursion_level to 4 or 5 to make it a
little brighter...

See you in Khyberspace!

No, that's no good idea - the scene is only slightly brighter, but dark
portions (like that entrance to the windowless bathroom to the left) are
brightened much more, so the contrast is lost! Keeping recursion_level
at 3 is o.k.!

See? Like I told you... :-)

Well, if you did NOT add the version statement before, that makes sense.

I wouldn't be too surprised if this had something to do with gamma. Rule
of thumb #1 there: Let POV-Ray 3.7 take care of it.

Well, apparently they're /not/ too difficult to understand - see what
you can get with surprisingly little effort :-)

I don't think it will make much of a difference (except that it will
take longer to render).
