Just a little scene inspired while I sat on my front porch this morning,
watching the sun rise.

Thanks!

Actually, its another instance of heightfield-modeling. I scanned a
seed twice--once with white behind and another with a sheet of black
paper behind it. In Photoshop, I used the two images to create a
suitable heightfield, pigment map, and translucency map.

Speaking of--is there a way to use different functions to create the
various parts of the color vector in a pigment{}? That is, I would like
to use one function to control the pigment and another to control the
alpha. I know I could do it using a texture_map, but is there another
way? It seems like there should be, but I can't think how to do it.

Looking at the image now, it occurs to me that I've done it
backwards--whirlybird seeds fall with the ridge facing down. Guess I'll
have to re-render.

Are you sure that's not a photo?
