Inspired by a spam received on my inbox.
The van model is from DMI, and the pallet truck from archive3d.net. The rest
was quickly modeled with Wings3D, and everything is textured with
proceduralized image maps. Under 2 hours using two pass radiosity.
Regards,

ROFL - Simply *AWSOME!*
Now all we need is proof that this isn't photoshopped :-P
Is someone still keeping a list of shots we want in the HOF? This
definitely is one such, if I'm asked!
(The workers did an incredible job at cleaning up the space though...)

Had a flashback to a Simpsons episode... Homer wanting to purchase a Mr
Microphone for Bart's birthday.
Homer: (into phone, panic-stricken) You have any more of the microphones
left????
Man in Warehouse: (casually looks back at stacks upon stacks upon stacks of
microphone boxes) Yeah, we got a couple...
Sorry, it struck me as funny... oh, well...
Most excellent image, btw :)

I was just thinking that was pretty much the only give-away.

Very, very nice. A great example of how to do realistic environment lighting
without recourse to HDRI maps (presumably...!)

Well, someone at the office photoshopped the original pic... here it is
attached. :)

You nailed it... in fact, it was my remembrance of this episode what
inspired the idea for the pic (in a somewhat "inverse effect" way).

Thanks!
And, yes, it is skylight.inc as always (well, actually it is
CIE_Skylight.inc from LightSys), using "just decent" radiosity settings.
Curiously, I was thinking on making an HDRI map out if this scene...

Yes, but the scene didn't take much more hours... it's mostly 3rd party
objects, some quick modeling with Wings3D, and reusing code from other
scenes for the lighting and texturing.

Even MORE "awsome"!
The crane is probably not much of use though (can't move around much) -
and the fire extinguisher red looks somewhat pale to me.

If all the added objects were 3d in Pov-Ray it would look even more
awesome.

Well... lately I'm kind of "too lazy for modeling with CSG". In fact, the
only "3d in POV-Ray" here is a plane outside for bouncing radiosity: the
rest are all meshes created externally.

No, that might *be* more awsome, but it wouldn't look much different.
And, strictly speaking, those added objects /are/ 3d in POV-Ray -
they're just not CSG models. But they're not billboards (or at least so
I assume).
(And last not least, in the context of this scene, "awsome" /must/ be
misspelt :-)).

I meant anything 3d (meshes, etc rendered in Pov-Ray. Just not PhotoShop
CS4's "3d"... :)

Oops... sorry, I think I have gone too far with the joke... ;) No one has
photoshoped the original pic: It is really an enhanced version rendered with
MegaPOV! Notice that the sun placement is in fact slightly different (I did
it to simulate that this pic was taken before the cleaning, some hours
before the other one).

No, I'm not proficient enough at cheating with billboards... :)
The extinguisher and crane models are 3DS meshes from archive3d.net,
imported into Wings3D and exported to POV-Ray with very little tweaking.
The wrinkled papers on the floor are in fact CSG, recycled from an old
scene (the office).
For the floor dirt I used 2 additional layers, one for the shoe prints,
and other for the skid marks. The big puddle-like stains are not an
additional layer, but a very thin height_field that appears trough the floor
only at some places... the tricky transparent texture on it seems to work
very well:
#declare f_ground=
function{
pigment{
granite
}
}
#declare t_dry_oil_stain=
texture{
pigment{
granite
color_map{
[0 DarkTan*.1 transmit .2 filter .2]
[1 HuntersGreen*.1 transmit 1 filter 1]
}
}
}
height_field{
function 512,512{f_ground(x,y,z).gray}
translate -.5
texture{t_dry_oil_stain rotate 180*x}
scale <8,.01,2.5>
translate .04*y
}
