The Cenotaph for Newton designed by the visionnary 18th century architect
of the building, done in good old Moray. If you look carefully, you will see
a tiny figure close to the entrance. It shows the sheer size of the whole
construction.

Somewhat pale. Gamma? Ambient?
(hmm... thinking about the building itself: Could just as well be German
architecture from the second quarter of 20th century...)

I had to look this up in Wikipedia; what a monumental design! "A sphere 500
feet high..." I wonder if that's even larger (in diameter) than the dome of St.
Peter's Basilica in Rome? It appears to be.
It seems to bear striking similarities to Albert Speer's later designs for
Adolphe Hitler--basic shapes and forms on a grand scale.
Nice modeling work!

I am not sure, but it could well be indeed.

Interesting you say that, like Clipka. The philosophy behind those designs
influence Speer indeed, and also I guess, the 'organic' architecture.
Contrary to Speer who wanted to show-off the dominance of man in grandiose
awe for nature, in particular with this cenotaph. The interior in particular
would have been breath-taking with simulated night sky.

Thanks! I shall try to add all exterior details and make the trees more
random, and then see if I can do something worthwhile with the interior. Not
sure, though...

An update of the cenotaph. You may be interested to know that the
"toothpaste tube end" (see: povray.general "Problem shaping a CSG object")
was used for cutting out the outer rampart of the building.

... and a tantalizing view towards the interior.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:%C3%89tienne-Louis_Boull%C3%A9e_Memorial_Newton_Night.jpg)
you can notice some inconsistencies in the engraving. The doorway is clearly
be achieved with a cylindrical wall. By modelling the building I came across
this (and other "impossibilities").

The trees look a bit... flat.

That's probably because they are still place holders for the definite
trees. They may also have to much ambient.

Oh yes! Like Alain says, they are just copies of one placeholder, not even
rotated randomly. Will be corrected later.

No. No ambient present at all. Overall, I only increased the luminosity of
the sun. However, the tree textures are too light. Like you say: place
holders.
