Meanwhile, I cut out three floors from both residential blocks 
(currently without any interior walls to separate the apartments, also 
still without stairs halls).

I increased the gray_threshold level of the radiosity, but I'm still far 
from a realistically looking interior lighting. Probably I'll spend the 
next few days with radiosity experiments...

I shouldn't talk, cause I posted some pretty crappy stuff along the way. But now
you're just taking up space in the image digest. Perhaps something of which
you're unaware. See my latest image for a clue.

It would be cool if you rendered an image from a fixed viewpoint after every 
day.  Then later you can make a nice video clip of how you built your world.

Great idea! I think I would start with that indoor view of my 
apartment... and perhaps a "pedestrian" view along the street in which I 
live!
