It might be possible to make the image even more dramatic by using
some classic rules of image composition, such as placing things on the
main diagonals (although this is not a hard rule, as horizontal is often
also a good composition, as long as you don't put the main horizontal
line exactly in the middle of the image), the rule of the thirds, or
golden ratios. Using perspective might make the image more dramatic (and
also allow using the main diagonal composition style).
Putting the main detail in the very border of the image, while it may
have its effect, might not be the best possible solution, although I
understand what you are trying to express with that.
From the point of view of composition, this is one of the best
photographs I have ever seen:

It has it all: The main diagonal (upper left to lower right), main
focus points in the thirds, a good "order" in which the focus shifts
around the photo (from the man's eye to the dog's eye to the plate,
creating a dynamic triangle), a good balance, a dramatic contrast
between bright and dark (enhancing the diagonal composition), and of
course it tells an amusing story.

I'll continue with this and see if I can improve it, which I'm sure I can
now.
BTW, remember that port glass image that you posted sometime ago as a
challenge to reproduce it? I'm working (slowly) on that too. ;)

Thanks Stephen. Yesterday wasn't a good day, I learned that one of my
friends had a stroke. It's just how I felt last night. I think it's good to
be able to express feelings in an image.

I like this Steve. It conveys the mood. Warp already commented in detail, so
I won't repeat, but I think that a bit of 3D effect would increase the space
effect and thus isolating the figure even more, as if he were in a very
large, empty room, or (another option) alone in a deserted street at night.
