I started from the "Linden tree" default, and only made a few small changes.

In this particular render, I left the leaf color at the default. I'm
thinking about making the leaves a touch darker. Thoughts?

You know you've been raytracing too long when you read about an
algorithm or datastructure and your first thought is: "How can I use
this to speed up raytracing?"

I'm glad you think it's that great. :-)

I was planning on cleaning it up first to make it a bit easier to use.
If you really want it now, though, I can still email it to you.

You know you've been raytracing too long when you try to find the
address of Julia Mandelbrott, because you fell in love with her shape.

Yes, that would be nice. I might also need the additional files for the
trees self. Especially palms, bushes, just the tropical things. But also,
any other trees are fine, too. Hmm, and your heightfield, that would be very
useful. Oh, yes, and your scene file! And, and, and...

By the way, how long did the render take?

With antialiasing, radiosity and an area_light cranked up, somewhere
between 45 minutes and an hour.

You know you've been raytracing too long when the alarm clock goes off,
and you try thinking: object { SnoozeButton translate y*-0.25 } and then
can't figure out why the alarm keeps ringing.

It would be nice if you could copy my scene file in time to enter it
into this round of the TC-RTC? ;-)

I've already posted a link to the Pov-Tree software.

My terrain isn't a heightfield; it's a mesh generated by my own custom
software. Actually, I might be able to post a copy of the program at
some point--it's really not very helpful if you're trying to get a scene
done, but it's still fun to play with. :-)

What OS are you on?

You know you've been raytracing too long when you switch to Linux
because Microsoft won't release the source code to Windows so you can
change all the buttons in your OS to use cool little raytraced images.

Windows XP. And I would like to use your landscapes with my HeliChopper (see
the 2nd thread below your posting here).
Thanks!

You know you've been raytracing too long when you've made more than two
posts to the 4:3 vs 16:9 thread for the Movie Project.
