in times, where the most furnitures are only made of fake wood, covered
with a thin layer of veneer, I searched for a way to create a texture
which gives me this veneer like look.

So I wrote a small macro which takes a normal wood pigment and declare
an archimedian spiral function an it.

the results so far are quit promising .....

if there is interest, I will post the macro .....

Well, that looks pretty much exactly like the veneer on the desk at my
workplace, so I would say you did a good job. I would like to see it on a
desk model with some low-strength reflection and a big, low-intesity, fuzzy
phong highlight

Mmm, so many fond memories of carving swear words into that exact
surface... :) Well done!

Thanks a lot so far for the response ...

here the pov-file with the macro and how to use it; attached is an image
which explains roughly how it works.

maybe you've allready some modells to apply this pigment to ;-)
