My take on BSG... pure CSG and inbuilt textures.

Nice but a bit dark on my monitor. I looks like a lot of work. How long did it
take you to build it?

I haven't seen that show in ages, but impressive and well done I think.
Dark is probably more realistic, but I'd also like to see it in brighter
light to see more of the model.

You *have* to do an animation with that thing going into battle :)

I like it, dark as it is perhaps, but that is part of its ominous presence.
Excellent work.

It took about a week to put together...Each hull segment is made using a
macro so I can make an inner, middle, and outer hull and combine them
together.
This render at 1280x1024 took 51m to render... Before I figured out how to
use light_groups, it took over 5 hours!

If you can lend me a render farm I'll gladly do one... Even at 640x480 it
will take 15 mins per frame!

Want to test out my code for just that, and run it on Amazon's ECC? :-)

As others have said, nicely done!
However, I once read on a FAQ on modeling space crafts, that the best way to
show it off is on a completely *white* background. Because while it's easy
to make something look impressive on a black or starry background, perhaps
with sparse lighting, you *know* that it's a good model if you can show it
on a white background and it *still* looks fabulous. Then you can always put
in the black background and moody lighting later. Just a thought.
