Might be. Luckily we don't need to do it ourselves, but we can just
write some SDL and let POV render it for us ;).

Yes, just imagine what a pain it'd be with just an abacus and a set of
coloured pens... :-D

advanced calculating hardware :o.

I wonder what you were trying to design there.... That could never have 
worked... for obvious scientific reasons  :-)

I fondly remember using a slip-stick (slide rule) a lot during high 
school/college.  (I've been around for awhile...)     ;-)   Still have 
one or two laying around here someplace.
