maybe if I add one more small turbulence, but now it all looks too fuzzy for
close ups :)

You humans do pretty well!

Once you succed to do generate your own planets with their own clouds, you
will be accepted to join the ligue of interstellar cultures! Each lifeform
which has developed their version of POV-Ray becomes a candidate, and each
of those few civilizations which learns to create their own planets will
become a member of the Galactic Ligue.

If those clouds are procedural, I'd love to see the code!

Hi there, i'm new here (not to POV though) and thought i could show my first
succesful attempt at creating a planet.
And much thanks to Tek, your method of sharpening the normals was really
useful! :)

Very nice!

I'm not sure the atmosphere would glow like that, and the clouds show no
wind-driven effects, but it's a good-looking planet for sure. :-)
