I was messing with crackle-based isosurfaces and found something that feels
like old-stylee vector graphics. So I made some asteroids in this sort of
cute retro scene. I don't think I'm gonna develop it any further but thought
I'd post it here to see what people think.

There's something ironic about using an isosurface to create something that
looks like polygons...

How did you do the diffraction artifacts on the stars?

(Related to that, i discovered (serendipitously :-) that shadow diffraction
can be simulated by using area_light with cheap parameters.)

The effect is mostly an optical illusion. The stars are all just a boxed
pigment, so a graduated square, with poly_wave 2 to accentuate it a bit. The
reason it looks like a cross shaped flare not a square is an optical
illusion caused by the way your eyes see sharp angles in a gradient, it
amplifies the sharpness making it look like a nice complicated flare effect!
I love optical illusions :)
