I saw the image and read this as 'Not quite dome yet'.
There is probably a nice psychological explanation
for that.

I like it, though altogether (unless that's the style you're aiming
for), it looks a little flat. The house-thingy has a nice highlight on
the right, a soft blue highlight on the left, but inbetween, it's just a
single color, no shading. To exagherate, the color is so "unshaded",
that the straight pillar wall looks like its blending directly into the
spheres. I'd do something about that.

The same goes for the background mountains, I'd prefer some more
variance in color. And some realistic clouds, made with media... I know,
altogether, its a lot to ask for that, but then I figure, since "Blog
Topper" suggests you want to put it at the head of a website/blog,
putting some time into it wouldn't harm. :-)

But, like I said, if that's the style your aiming for (more stylized
than realistic), it looks like a good start. How about raising the
resolution for the heightfield, I can see some edges...

Regards,
Tim

High!

Nice so far... is it for a blog on some Islamic issues?

The barren desert hills in the background look good, but of course the
thing to the left looking like a marabut (a sufi saint's tomb like
oftenly seen in North Africa) is incomplete... what about a multi-staged
pedestal and a crescent on top?

See you in Khyberspace!

...In addition, I suggest you use double_illuminate for the height_field,
because some black artifacts appear from smoothing.

Otherwise, I like the mood.

Yeah the problem is that at that aspect ratio, I had to pull the camera
miles back and zoom in to correct the horrible parallax distortion. Hence
"flatness". I have been working with this a bit more.

Here is a scaled-down version of the current image.

actually it's stylistically "the end of the world" - a place and time where
civilization end.

This for my blog, called "Letters from the End of Civilization"

Wouldn't a cylindrical camera fix that issue?
