Of late I've become interested in the Black and White motif.

Short for "angle of incidence":

The value returned by this pattern is proportional to the angle between a
certain ray and the (perturbed) normal at the surface of the object. The
range of returned values goes from 0 to 1. (from
http://megapov.inetart.net/manual-1.2.1/patterns.html#aoi_pattern)

Very creepy. We probably have zillions of these things floating around
inside of us. <**shudder**> Hopefully benign!
