Maybe boost the resolution of the bitmap in an editor. The image
information will be the same density, of course, but less pixelated
perhaps? Then add some grunge or other texture information at the
higher resolution. You might gain the effect of the image looking faded
rather than just low-res. Or maybe not...

Hmmm... yes, might work. I shall have a few experiments.

Very simple: with motion_blur in MegaPOV. This scene was a good reason to
experiment with it, and it paid off!
More in detail: I built the complete scene in Moray and rendered the wip's
in POV-Ray version 3.5; then I made the final render in MegaPOV 1.2.1, after
tweaking the different necessary settings for motion_blur.

Thank you Merrin!
Yes, I am working on the dropings (a fist wip yesterday was worth nothing).
The third panel has been started yesterday too.

Some object don't look well anti-aliased--especially the pipes (or cables?)
under the arches.

Yes, that is correct. The traction bars look bad. I am currently making a
new render with a better aa setting. However, I cannot get rid totally of
the effect.
