It's wrong, but it's beautiful anyway...

Somebody suggested I make my snow look more like snow by making it
transparent and filling it with scattering media. Well here it is. It's
beautiful, but it looks nothing like snow...

Heh, that was me. Actually, I like this one - it makes me think of ice
more than the next one you posted. Or maybe not ice, but one of those
frosted decorations... anyway, I think this version is gorgeous :)

The image is, quite undeniably, beautiful.

It reminds me of some weird kind of semi-translucent wax or something.
(Notice how it picks up the delicate yellowish hue of the candle flame.)
Really quite pleasing to the eye.

As for whether it's any use for the IRTC, *that* is an orthogonal
question, IMHO.

I disagree. It looks like slush that has been packed hard into a
"snowball". Half-melted snow, squeezed into ice.

Yep, I agree completely.

Nice pic!

Except that the flame looks like a sphere, this is the best fire/ice
idea I have seen yet. the ice looks almost perfect. I know this wasn't
exactly what you were trying for, but this is great.

This looks exquisite. Keep this one. I think it'll look great in the full
picture.

p.s. any chance of you sharing this texture?

I'm still ambivalent about the marble texture. How does it look if you use
this snow/ice on a rounded block for the base of the candle?

*Whatever* it is, it's quite beautiful. Like a combination of hot water
and melted wax, homogenized and then flash-frozen.
