Impressed of the great landscape pictures of Chris Hormann (
http://www-public.tu-bs.de:8080/~y0013390 ) and Jaime Vives Piqueres (
www.ignorancia.org ) I started to design some own worlds. Most of my time I
use Terragen, the great landscape generator, but Povray is very very fine
also.

The isosurface function:
y - (f_wrinkles(x*.06, y*.15,z*.03) + (7*f_agate(x*-.11,y*-.11,z*-.1)) *
f_wrinkles(x*.2,y*.2,z*.2)) + f_granite(x*.1,y*.1,z*.1) +
.2*f_wrinkles(x*3,y*6,z*3)

contained_by { box { <-100,-2,-100>,<100,5,100> } }

I'm not very satisfied with placing the trees, but it's ok.

Have fun
Bye Grosch

I think it looks great. And thanks for including the function -- now I
see how it's done, I'll give it a shot, too.

Great landscape. I experimented much by myself with Jaime's landscape
generator, but I never got results like you (and the last ten tierra
examples of Jaime).
Now I'm a bit frustrated, because I cannot get the camera right. Can you
post the camera position too?

Thanks....some weeks ago I experimented also with the great files of Jaime.
I created some good scenes but never with the excellence of Jaime. After a
few weeks i started to create my own Landscape generator to understand the
functions better and the result is mutch better now. This scene is created
with my own PovCode. Try it also ;o)

Norbert, your own landscape masterpieces deserve a site of their own
that we can point to.

I like it! Great!

FWIW, see also my Geomorph macro in POV-Ray Wiki.
