I've had a bit of inspiration since posting, what is
generally wrong is that the textures suck, at least the
whole scene looks like it is baked in an oven when it
should be dripping water, so I've gone back to the textures.

What do you think of this as an alternative for the lantern
texture?
(ignore the bg, it's just for lighting)
