A weathered skull of a deceased land vertebrate of your choice always does
well in this type of scene...

It is pretty impressive as it is, no doubt about it!

A few things I think might be added, depending on whether you wanted to
overall effect to be "darker" or "lighter". (In terms of mood, not colours.)

You could add skelital remains and/or lightning arcs to make it more
sinister. Or you could maybe add a few crystals to lift it a bit...

...or just add a signature. ;-)

I'd vote for a signature, although you do have a bank of clouds looking vaguely
like a favorite rodent's hat in the background. A hidden message? ;)

Immediately thought 'this looks like a Mick Hazelgrove'...

Nice work, maybe the foreground could use a bit more structure (either
in texture or in geometry).

Chuckle, interstingly the image started out with some sort of apocalyptic
post industrial idea in mind- so this is very apt.

Hi All

Thanks for your kind comments and sugestions they've certainly given me
food for thought. When I first did the pic it didn't even have the arch in
it! so leaving it as is is certainly an option. I think I will do it in 3
flavours, just the desert, the desert and arch and one with a figure in it.

thanks all

Mick

Time to (re)discover Edgard Varèse's masterwork "Déserts". Now whenever
I see the word "desert" alone, I imagine terribly aggressive machinery,
melt steel and the like.

Great picture, with a immediatly recognisable style, btw :-)

Coming in late to comment, but a fantastic landscape. I also thought
"Hazelgrove" immediatly. Doesn't need much more, I guess. What about
footprints? Not necessarily human...
As always: great admiration for your work.

Wow, very nice.

I love the fog, how did you do that?

It's so perfectly stark as is, adding anything would require special
thought. i.e. a single flower, 'smeagol' as somene else noted, or a single
'something' to achieve the artistic statement you are trying for. (I didn't
see it as Mordor but something else).
