Folks,
Over the last couple of months, I have made a macro that generates
isosurface landscapes with a touch of geology or geomorphology. In
particular, the generation of islands or single rocks is made possible. You
can change and combine 50 different parameters.
This image is a (crude) example of what the macro can do.
The macro, and a pdf document, are zipped and made available in p.b.s.-f.
under the same header.
As always, comments are very welcome.
Enjoy!
Thomas

Thomas,
This looks great. Do you host this macro/docs on a web page? I'd like very
much to add a link to this macro. If not, I'd be happy to host for you.

Sounds very interesting...

Just downloaded it, to see if I can borrow some ideas for my own
landscape generator... thanks for sharing!

Thank you Neil!
No, I do not have a web page. Never found time really to start one ;-)
someday, probably...
So, you are welcome to host the macro. Thanks indeed!

Thank you. It still lacks AA and a little bit higher max_gradient. Also the
texture is not correct in this render. The trees, by the way, were made with
Gena's POV-Tree.

You are very welcome! Quite probably you already used all the little tricks
:-)
I wrote something really straightforward as I am not that skilled in math.

Thank you indeed, Neil!
I shall make a better render of the image and post it. This one makes my
teeth ache ;-)

Well... crude, in the sense of a render with low settings, and an error in
the texture (which gives an interesting effect by the way).
What excites me, is that the macro generates landscapes very rapidly, and
very often with surprising effects. This image came unexpected, and I saved
the settings for use in a more elaborate future scene with the working title
"El Barranco".
Glad you like it!

Done! Thanks Neil. I had heard rumors about Wiki, without knowing what it
