Is it me, or does something about the hats seem wrong? It seems to me that 
the dark areas should be at the outer edge, and the lighter toward the 
inside. Otherwise, a fine composition symbolizing St. Nick and his toyshop 
elves? Seems to me, anyway.

I think they look fine if they're supposed to be made of velvet or a similar
texture.
