Back to POV...
Ok, not a great WIP... I've just started working on the legs... but, you
know, I just wanted you to know I'm not dead or something... ;-)
So back to the project... let me see... the feet, a couple of hours and they
should be ok... the wings... that will take more time... the back... I don't
know... it won't show in the final scene I think... so... do I really need
to model it?
First (big!) render: Sixshot in all his splendour!
Second (smaller) render: wanted to show you the map I'm going to use to...
weather the toy. It's a simple *dirt-map*... heavily view dependant... so,
it does not work with reflections et similia...
The model will be completed before 2005... unless I lose my inspiration
again...

Merry Christmas!

Hi!

Nice to see you again. Your weathering technique is very interesting. Is it
made entirely in SDL? If so could you share the code? As I understand the
green areas are of high dust accumulation. Are you going to render some
other dirting/weathering phenomena e.g. mud sticking (Dropsnow Macro Example
by Tim Nikias might be useful), paint coat washing, paint coat scratching,
rusting, etc.? I hope your Muse won't leave you till the whole project is
complete.

Matt Burns

Is very nice IMHO.
How was it realized?

Is it made entirely in SDL... yes and no. I'm just using a simple radiosity
render of the toy as... an accessibility pattern (sp?)... so... it's just an
image_map... to map it properly I'm using a simple function to project every
point onto the image plane... simple as that. I'm not going to render any
other dirting phenomenon... this is not meant to be a toy you can find er...
in a dump, you know... honestly... I have quite no idea of what scene to set
this thing in... BTW... sorry for my bad English... I'm not used to it
anymore.

Cheers!

Wow, I'm glad you like it.

Thank you.

Are you referring to the dirting technique? -> read my answer to the
previous post.
The model itself is just obvious, and less obvious, CSG...

Ciao!

I've never understood how people get lighting in their images like that
of transformer.jpg. Is it just radiosity? What lighting and texture
settings are you using? The shadow seems a bit blue. This is always
something that everyone does, and I have not figured out how to do.

Try radiosity with a light blue sky_sphere. Or a bluish shadowless
light_source.

And play around with rad_def.inc to get started.
