I'd use a lighter shade of brown for the background,
and maybe model a barrel. It could be a nice 3D
image. Extrude the lettering just a little, they'd be
in front of the barrel.

So, is this "hard" root beer? Else, the bread yeast
would just make it taste bad!

Yup, this is a "hard" root beer.

I plan to model the 5 gal. plastic water jug that I used
and place it behind the text.

You don't ferment yeast - yeast ferments sugar to produce CH3-CH2-OH!
Now that would look good on a label.
