as i mentioned in p.unix group:
First, i am totally new to all this 3D stuff.
I installed Povray few days ago and spent larger part of me weekend with it.
I use KDE/Gentoo Linux i have used this kpovmodeler that is part of a
kde-base/kdegraphics package.

so here is my goban4c640x480.jpg

i play a bit Go so i decided to "draw" something simple.. pfff... it was
not so simple at all :)

thanx for your comments and/or hints.

That's way better than my 1st images :))

Hmmm, agressive game by white, isn't it? Black will have a hard time
fighting for the corners. :-)

Nice image!

Roberto: yes, it's random 9p game form gobase.org. White resigns after
move 161.

I am tying now to add some paper walls but i have not managed to get it
look right.
I like to get the light from the other side of the walls to radiate
through (if it's a correct word).

any ideas how to make white paper suitable for the walls?

Marc: stones (spheres) actually look _almost_ OK on high res picture.

LOL I was only joking about the
"compulsory-reflective-sphere-on-a-checkered-plane-topic-for-a-1st-post"
here :-)
Your image is a very good start.
For the lit-thru walls the key-word could be double_illuminate
