Almost, but it looks very good even now! The upper bright layer makes it 
look like there is some "thinner" liquid on top of milk. Could you post 
an example with not so hard/bright lighting?

A few questons:

1. Is this done with regular Pov 3.6?

2. How did you scale the milk itself? Is it slightly bigger or slightly 
smaller than the container?

I'll post another later. I'll probably bump up the area lights and run 
it overnight.

Yes. The media is painfully slow, though.

I have always scaled the liquid slightly larger than the inner surface 
of the container.

Tea is more or less deep amber indeed but you know it wasn't what I had in
mind

this looks similar to milk: I think it's too
transmissive, esp. the meniscus has a
strange transparent (or dark) part --
see attached picture.

Just looking at a glass of 2% milk. A little yellower and a hint of a 
darker line like the one that you show. For me, it look very good as 
skim milk witch is whiter.

   Yes, very milky, although it seems to have a bit of water on it... :)
