All this LOTW stuff gets me itching to render some landscapes as well.

This one is definately not random. It is a spin off from a scene
template I was trying out for taking some basic Terragen settings and
translating them to POV (nothing for the textures or atmosphere though).
I restricted the scene to a regular height field with surface texturing
only. Atmosphere is fog. Render time about 00:06:30 on a 2.2GHz PC.

Impressive. Very convincing, and with only a few elements... great!

Are these mountains from a pigment function, or real height data?

No real world data if I remember right - generated either in Terragen or
Worldmachine.

Nice work Abe. Can't wait to see a landscape including the clouds you
posted earlier.

Really nice job! Add a few clouds and it would match into every good travel
catalogue.

Oh well a lila cow is only realistic beside a marmot wrapping aluminium foil
around chocolate bars :-)
