Hi

Just thought I'd share this as I've not posted anything for ages - I'm
reworking an old IRTC image
http://www.jimbobjim.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/gallery/stones.htm - so is this
any better?

jim

Very pretty - and yes, I think I like it better than the old one! :-)

Two things I notice:

- In the old image, the focus was the stone circle. In this image, the focus
is the sunset. The rocks seem like a secondary element. Is that intended?

- The rocks rely too much on ambient lighting, so they look very flat. Try
adding a dim, shadowless light source behind the camera somewhere and off to
the left in order to give them some more depth.

Not really - I never liked the background to the old image much so I spent a
little time improving it as a way to get back "into" POV after a long
absence. It would seem that as a result of these few tweeks, the background
has (as you say) become the primary element in the scene.

I originally intended on putting a butterfly (or maybe a bird) sat ontop of
one of the stones, but could never achieve the desired effect without it
looking cheesy but maybe I'll give it another bash...

The sky is a very nice image I found at
http://www.daemon.realsoft.com/Environments.htm
The whole scene is lit by a single point light placed at the sunrise -
without the radiosity the "fronts" of the stone appear black - so I'll
experiment a little with some fill light(s)

Thanks
jim
