Cool! Even better: put a humain in it to give a sens of scale to the whole
thing.
A tiny human will make this colossal.

Jean-luc: your question, my answer

Very nice. I know this word was used in Mike Williams' excellent
Isosurface tutorial, but what is a "greeble"?!

Nice choice of texture, too. Understated, but it adds just enought to imply
more detail than you'd want to fiddle about with.

There is a useful article here:

http://www.scifi-meshes.com/tutorials/norling/greeble/greeble.html

Cheers,
Ian.

Oh dear. I was hoping no one would ask. It's
one of those words that not in the dictionary. How to
explain this ... hmmm ...
Look at the surface of the death star (star
wars movies). Now look at what the millenium falcon
is plated with. That's greebles. Greebles are the
techy detailed visual interesting texture ornimants.
I first saw the term used in "The Star Wars
Sketchbook".

I made some greeble "tiles" in Wings3d and
then expoerted them to povray v3.5 mesh2 objects.
Wings3d is *really* good for greeble making!
For the render POV-Ray then placed randomly
picked and placed randomly rotated/mirrored copies
of the tiles.
In a way I feel like I've cheated because
I would rather have made the greeble tiles in POV-Ray.
Over the years I have tried several methods of
making greebles in povray (including such methods
as making thoursands of randomly placed mesh-boxes,
or making a HF from the crackle pattern) but they
tended to look lame.
	Glad you like it!
