This is the one that I like the most. I do not how to say it, but I think
the worm looks more like a cool guy with this hat. With the mesh version,
the worm looks more like an older, more serious man, a salesman or something
like this.

> Any suggestions about the color? I like the blue,

I'm not very good when it's time to choose color for my own models, so
imagine for others.... But to be honnest, I like the color you choose, It
makes a good contrast.

Nice work, it's looking good so far!

Ciao!

Mart

Thanks for the comment. Looks like I'll
have to model the mesh to resemble the
CSG-version better...

Tim

Great work.
I like the first hat better.
Perhaps a draker blue (navy) would fit better.

Thanks for the comment. I'll shortly post
a new mesh-hat, now more oriented towards
the CSG version.
I'll have to play with the color once I get
the imagemaps/bumpmaps done.

Tim

So, here's a second version. Due to the feedback,
I've made it to bear more resemblance with the
CSG version.
I'll play with colors and finish once image- and
bumpmaps are prepared and properly applied.

Regards,
Tim

Hi Tim,

I have all three on the screen at once to compare. I
think this one looks better than the last mesh version.
I prefer the smaller and taller hat.

The smaller and taller hat, that's the CSG one,
right?
In effect, what you're saying is that the latest
mesh-hat needs to be a little taller?

I think so. Maybe not as much as the CSG one.
You might want to be able to stretch it for certain
cartoonish effects. So you wouldn't want it too
tall to start with.

About stretching it for cartoonish-effects:
I'm as of yet unsure how much I do want
to apply that sort of comedy. Exagherating
expressions is one thing, deforming the
props another...
Still, thanks for the input. After all the useful
comments, I've reached the same conclusions
and have a better idea of how a hat is to
be modelled for a worm. I'll someday create
a worm-fashion! ;-)

I think is getting very close to how I want
it to look. I'll work some more on the textures
and deformation-map, and these were
just a rough first test.
Once I've got a wrap on the Hat, I'll
see to it that the mouth gets its final finishes
(some things concerned with animating it
and such, which isn't so obvious in stills).

And I think I should begin preparing a
section for this short, to show progress
and such. (And lure visitors to my site ;-)

Regards,
Tim
