This has taken me a lot longer than it should,
even to get it this far, there's not a lot that I
like enough to leave as it is yet, and lots to add.

I borrowed and slightly modified Giles Trans' angel
wings macro, the rest is my code.

Hope someone like it.

Like, maybe, I dunno... a worm?

I didn't picture 'thopters with feet like this, but yeah, it works.

The sand is very good, but the dust needs to be worked on (if that's what the
golden blobs are!). Also, the harvester should be a lot dirtier, IMHO.

yep, approaching from the distance between the harvester
and the 'thopter, with static electric lightening bolts!

Thanks. The feet are my own elaboration to emphasize the wings, there's
actually very little description of ornithopters beyond them having
bird-like wings that flap, and thrusters, which I've so far omitted.

Yes, the spice dust is poor, maybe just reducing the density will
help. I wouldn't have posted the picture at such an incomplete stage
except I was starting to get despondant and needed a bit of
encouragement :-).
Dirt and damage to be added to all the hardware.

Other stuff to do: The 'thopter's underbelly opening a ramp, figures
running (difficult, but kept very small), more details on the crawler,
spotters in the distant sky, additional diffuse sand dust in the
foreground, probably more.

Dune?

I'm probably completely off, but that's what comes to mind.

That is most definately not like any ornithopter I've seen an either movie,
Dune, Sci-Fi channels Dune, nor Sci-Fi channels Children of Dune.

But it is more like the ones described in the book :-)

I liked the Sci-Fi channel's Dune better than the movie, and I didn't
even know that they'd done the sequel, I'll have to chase it up.
