I just finished playing GTA Vice City and there is a re-run of Miami Vice on
one channel and that kind of inspired me to do a 80's room. I tried to
remember
stuff that we had in those days like chrome furniture, checkered carpets
[sic!]
and those stupid mirror walls that left holes all over the walls. I still
listen to some
music that I started to like back then like Depeche Mode, Sisters of Mercy,
the Cure
etc etc but I have no other "props" left and that makes it hard to remember
just
what everything looked like. Any suggestions are very welcome :)

Like the Subject said, this is a WIP and I'm still adding stuff as I come up
with them.
I'm not quite happy with the Poser girl. She looks "plastic" and the hair
has a horrible
artefact. How does Gilles do that?
I'm not familiar with the grass macros so the carpet is just a bunch of
Superquadrics
with a normal. Maybe I'll try something else later.

I started a rendering with photons and radiosity but since the PPS dropped
to between
5 and 7 when it hit the glass wall (in the hallway), I stopped it.

Like I said, anyone who remembers anything from the 80's are welcome with
suggestions.
Those who don't? Well, I guess you are welcome to.. hehe

Oh, and it's all made and put together with Moray 3.5 RC2. Splendid job Lutz

If this was a teenager's room, I could dump a million suggestions on 
you, but it doesn't look like a teenager's room, and the woman doesn't 
exactly look like a teenager. So I have more questions than suggestions.

What kind of room is this? It looks like part bathroom, part bedroom, 
and part living room. If we knew what it was, it would probably help you 
and us think of ways to add to it.

The lighting looks kind of stark. Are you using light fading and/or 
radiosity? You might give it a try.. then again, you might want to do 
without radiosity as a stylistic choice.

The walls could use more stuff on them. Maybe a framed art print or two, 
if you can find the right sort of art, and a clock? (I envision the 
clock having a kind of stylized ultramodern look with more matte black 
and chrome, or maybe glass.. something like that.) Some little touches 
like light switches and power outlets would probably help too.

The hairspray is a nice touch, but there really ought to be more than 
one hair product there. ;)

The design you have now for the furniture looks right.

That's all I can think of for the moment.

No, that's correct. It's not intended to be a teenager's room.
Maybe it's a David Lynch kind of room and any second a small
man will walk in and start to talk backwards.. hehe
I don't know. I am somewhat inspired from a couple of pictures
I found. Very 80'ish indeed.

How about some hair gel? hehe
Hmm..

Yes, I have tried radiosity. But for now it takes to long to render with it.

The pose is what looks plastic IMO.  She looks like she's getting ready to
draw in an old west shootout.

Try something more casual.  If she's posing in the mirror try a hand on hip
or fingers in hair, feet together with weight over one hip.  I know Poser is
a PITA to work in, but turn off Inverse Kinetics and it looks more natural.

The room look great!

at himself/herself in a mirror, that the image shows the reflection of
the person in the mirror?
  Think about it: If the camera sees the person in the mirror, what does
the person see in the mirror? The camera, of course. Not himself/herself.

  So one has to think: Why is this person looking at the camera through
the mirror?
