Another old piece that I'm fixing up. I may add some energy bolts from
the ship if they don't detract from the rest of the image.

Explosion by H.E. Day, ship modelled in Rhino

Comments?

btw, it's intended to be fairly dark. The recommended brightness is so that
you can
just see the debris in the foreground.

Nice atmosphere. Although doesn't the ship look like it's almost upside
down?

Might be nice to see it firing something? Laser, missile, energy wave or
something.

Very very nice. The soft shadows are beautiful and the rubble looks great.
I've noticed it's hard to get realism in a dark scene, without a light
source to pick up the normals, but this looks good. Since the door is
broken, maybe add some pieces of wood on the ground. I can't tell what the
walls on either side are made out of.

The spaceship looks like it came out of Buckaroo Banzai; nice. Some
contrails might give it some speed and direction. Perhaps some small arms
fire from the ground, possibly even hitting the ship?

The explosions look a tad too solid. Rune has some great realistic
explosions at his website.

Excellent perspective.

Hiya Gail, maybe a Smeegol type figure (stance) in the foreground
crawling up that debris might work nicely with this?

I remember this image when you posted it last time, and I still
like it! Nice ship. :)

Nope. There's a story round this image. There are two people,
brother and sister, huddled at the base of the stairwell. The scene
is from their point of view.

The walls are concrete. Would wood break apart in a high temp explosion, or
would it just burn? I thought burn, that's why there's no bits of wook.

Never watched it <g>

Sounds good, I'll hunt down some reference pics

Thanks, I'll check them out

Actually, that's nice, and sounds much better. Yes, I can see that.

  Keep up the good work.

The scene design and camera placement is excellent as is usual with you.
I love the effect of the explosions and the various sihouettes. I
guess the main stopping point for me is in the texturing of the craft. I
find it hard to make sense of. It works best for me as a kind of eerie
organic retilian feel. Worst as something child- or toy- like.
I could definitely see energy bolts adding to the drama. -Jim

Nice image. I like it!

Not sure about the explosion - looks more like clouds lit up in the morning
sunrise... The wood looks as though it should be a bit more splintered, with
lots of tiny jaggin spikes, but that would take months to render!

Very nice composition...

[Oh well, maybe one day]
Andrew.
