This is (was) a simple test for making skateboard wheels. It took me two
weeks to come up with a macro that would "spit out" a skateboard wheel in
preparation for eventually making an entire skateboard. At this rate I will
be very old before I get it completed. The scene is an HDRI (campus scene)
with a lightsource added. I tried using subsurface scattering but this
scene took over 4 days to render (1 gig 512 ram) so I gave up and went with
straight white texture.

this image took 4 days, or the subsufrace scattering version? granted the
wheels look very very good, but that seems like a long time if in fact the
non subsurface scattering version took 4 days.

but the wheels look damn good. i'd say its a success.

Thanks! The subscattering version took over 4 days. This version (using a
simple white pigment) took only a couple of hours.
