The name of the software IS Ferenc. And I'm already using refraction, but it
doesn't show too much. Don't need too much contrast, since this image isn't
the logo itself.

I realise that's what it's called, I was wondering what it does?
But yeah, obviously it's not the logo - splash screens seldom are, my mistake!
I'm not thinking straight, I just got home from the office christmas party!
still drunk... :)

Among other things it generates invoices, does planning. It uses secure
socket layer communication (ssl, https). The thing is completely browser
based. So it's not really a splash screen, but the image shows during the
logon procedure. The server side scripting is in Perl 5.

Well this might sounds totally illogical, but in light of what it does: I'd say
the black and white picture is better :)

the transparent characters are supposed to symbolize the transparency of the
system for the people who are using it. Everything that you need to see is
visible.
blablablablabla etc etc etc etc :-P

Oooh... I like that. :)
But you've now made it impossible for me to chose!
I like both, make it randomly chose one each time it shows it :D

That's exactly what I was thinking! But I won't ever do that. Once the thing
is completely working then maybe I'll start thinking about making it
skinnable/themeable if that's needed.

The glass one looks better than the B/W one, IMHO.
(They do seem to be a little on the large side for a splashscreen,
perhaps?)

Like 'em both but IMHO you need to shear the camera to prevent the feeling
that the letters are falling over.
BTW If forced to choose, I go with Marc v d D

The font is Italic styled. The letters *are* sheared over. :-)
