Here are two images showing the new Dynamic Cloth feature in Poser 5 and the
standard female character, Judy. The poses are more or less default ones and
I slightly modified the Judy's default face in the new Face Room feature (it
lets you pull pull on control points to change it). The dress is the
standard "beach summer dress" prop. Hair is Kozaburo's Alice.
Dynamic clothing in P5 works by setting various friction, collision,
resistance, density etc. parameters and letting the simulation go for a few
minutes (fast hardware and patience needed).
First impressions : great feature. Not easy to understand and set up, but
worth the upgrade. Curious Labs is taking a terrible amount of flak for the
slightly botched release (bugs bugs bugs) but this is big step forward
anyway.

I find the new characters very natural-looking too.
Rendered in POV-Ray 3.5, using Jaime Vives Piqueres' light macros, radiosity
(count 400 error_bound 0.05), an office chair prop of unknow origin. 90
minutes each, 160 Mb RAM used, Pentium 4 1.7 Mhz, 1Gb RAM.
No post-process used, so posing artifacts, "clothification" artifacts
(Poser), mesh and radiosity artifacts (POV-Ray) are all visible.

I like the lighting in the second image very much and well, Judy does not look
so bad after all.
BUT, after havin' played a little more with Poser 5 I am disappointed.
There are still the old, well known problems with conforming clothes. Body
parts are showing through the clothes even when using standard poses and you
still have to waste hours with fine tuning. Body parts are unnaturally deformed
also even with some of the default poses and for sure with more extreme
(but natural) poses. Some poses look definitely better when using good ol'
Vicky (at least you can be thankful that she does still work). I have now
three more or less incompatible figures (including textures, hair and cloth props):
P4 male/female, DAZ Vicky/Micky (not part of the Poser destribution, you
have to buy them seperately from DAZ3D) and P5 Don/Judy and that does
not make life much easier.

The only thing I really appreciate are the new dynamic clothes and the cloth room.
I have also worked a little more on the P5 dynamic hair conversion to POV-
primitives  (this would be one more plus for Poser 5) but in the moment I'm
not sure if this it will ever work as expected. I assume that the Poser FireFly
render engine does some special *tricks* with the hair, and  this can not be
reproduced with POV. Not sure, but I will keep up workin' on this.
For me, Poser is still something like a "toy-software", and a quite expensive one.

And the default cat is also as ugly as ever.

Yes, that seems to be an unfortunate byproduct of Curious Labs and DAZ3D
falling out with each other. This is really dumb, because P5 with full
support for DAZ Millenium figures would have been just great. Still, we can
expect 3rd parties to jump in and provide ways to make them more compatible,
like the Vicky/Mickey hair which can now be used on P4 models. Note that
I've read that Vicky textures are already compatible with Judy's mapping
(not tested).

I'm under the impression that hyperealistic hair like this can't be done
with traditional geometries due to the enormous amount of polys that would
be required. What Curious Labs could have in store is a way to export the P5
hair guides to software that support similar hair plugins but us Povers
won't benefit from this.

Another very nice feature of P5, btw, is the setup room which allows to make
posable just about anything. I just turned the Kozaburo hair of the pictures
into a posable figure and it really works fine. I guess this feature was
already in PoserPro.

There are talks of new animals, but the Content Paradise feature is still
closed :-( Some of the authors on the P5 credits are specialists of animals
so let's hope.

I try to convert the hair to spline based paths for pov primitives. (Not
even sphere sweeps, they would be too slow to render.) We will see.

Thanks for the hint. I have also never upgraded to ProPack. Well, I guess
I should have made some more experiences with P5 before I come to a
final conclusion.

Thats a pose I would call a more extreme but natural one and I guess there
is not the sensational difference between P4 and P5. Judy has a better
geometrie compared to the P4 woman, but Vicky is still better. I have
not compared Judy to the P4 EveV3 model (a free model you can
download from http://www.morphworld30.com)
Eve has also a much better range of motion then the P4 fem.

I inferred from the online P5 manual that you could change the bend
zones on the figure, thereby enabling such a pose.  Is that incorrect?
If it is, I'm not going to buy P5.
