Ok ... now, that I got the model, I can try a bit on
the lighting.
I still have the problem, setting upt the lightsource,
to fit the lighting to the original[1], even without
the object. I played with fade-power, fade-distance,
lightness Rad.-settings and what not... I can't get
the near left wall and the floor be as bright as in the
original and still have the dark corner in the upper
background and the "light-blooming" of the floor from the
left. Interestingly, the most similar resulst I got with
fade-power=0.5 -- (Does that make sense, what I'm writing?)
Now, after having a quite satisfying lightsource, I was about
to tweak the radiosity params, but this is even harder...
I have big problems, with the time of 8m6sec to get the
rendered image (even without Focal blur).

But I still believe, this is my fault, and more advanced users
are probably able to do better. What does our lighting-expert[2]
say, what he whould advice ? Of course, I also like input from
others ;)

It's a MAX plug-in that does radiosity.

Where are you placing your light? In the original, it looks as though the light
is aiming at the right back wall, with all the light falling on the left hand
side of the image coming from diffusion. In your version, it looks as though
your light is lighting the statue and problematic areas more directly.

Now as I look again on the image, I see, what you probably mean ...

I'm sure, I have the lightsource nearly at the same position as
in the original image. You can see that, if you compare the direct
shadows of the corner and of the statue.
All others are effects of light-parameters, ie. brightness, fade-power
and fade-distance. I think this one here was done with f-pow=2, but I
will again give it a try with some "unnatural" values ...

It's certainly tricky to work out what they've done with the light. It says
"pointlight", but the shape looks more like a spotlight. Perhaps it's coming
through an apeture.

Nevertheless, I would try and emulate the round shape of the direct light
illumination (as seen on the back wall and the ceiling), and then go from there.

If you look at the back wall and the ceiling, it seems round with a defined
edge? Ignore the light falling on the statue, and just look at the brightest
light on the back wall/ceiling.

Of course, the same effect could be achieved by placing the pointlight on the
other side of a round window.

I don't think, this is the shape of a spotlight, what you mean.
I also see this, but this can be achieved by the use of normal
pointlights.

I can create this shape of the light quite good ...

it's a pity, that the rest of the room doesn't nearly look
as I want it to ...
