You probably recall better than me :) Anyway, without seeing the
source, I interpreted the 'almost black' part as having left the
default ambient in and having no radiosity at work. Whatever.

Yes, it does look good. But shadows ain't looking right, their position 
implies that light source (sun) is much nearer than it appears by image.
