It's not that easy if you want precise calculations.  You must have
correct information on stiffness of the string and friction between nail
and string and on how it's mounted to the picture (and of course the
weight of the picture).  

If you assume the string is completely drooping(?) things are much easier
of course, you will only need to know the friction to find out how much
the picture is tilted at maximum.

you are absolutely right! for me it is enough to know hoe to change the 
radius of the string.

Hmm, I'm still confused. Unless your picture is very light or your wire very
stiff, I still think the curvature would be negligable....
