This is my first render in 3.5. I got quite a shock when I first rendered
the scene in 3.5 as it came out completely different to that of from MegaPOV
(I was rendering in MegaPOV because I couldn't get Moray to render straight
to 3.5) - but I suppose that's because the rad is based on a different
finish setting now. The realism isn't too good - I'm quite happy with the
texturing and lighting, but they don't have that chalky feel (maybe a
roughed up heightfield would do the job?) that a real polo has. Anyway it
was modelled in Rhino, setup in Moray and (finally) rendered in POV 3.5.

They are a UK brand of mints. Probably peppermints since I can't see the
blue/green specks that mark the spearmint versions.
I'm not sure exactly what Lifesavers are, so I can't comment on any
similarity that there may be. IIRC, Polo's were originally available in
Peppermint and clear boiled sweet varieties, but they've now released all
sorts of stupid, and in some cases, disgusting flavours :)

Really you don't have lifesavers in the UK! They look something like the
candy you rendered only the hole in the middle is smaller and the whole
candy is rounder. The classic kind is transparent and comes in various
rainbow colours, I don't care much for their flavour, too sweet and
artificial. They have also released many variants of them, including caramel
lifesavers, my fav!

I've never know a packet of fruit flavourd Polos where the entire contents
weren't stuck together, only separable by using some dangerous implement
and something heavy like a hammer or a brick:-)

Having looked at the links provided by Jon, I can say that they look
remarkably like Polo's, but seem to come in more bizarre and (in some
cases) disgusting sounding flavours :)

:) Thats about right - they taste OK but always appear a bit 'skanky'.
