Nice water, and the trout's not bad, either... ;-)
Seriously, is there any chance of you posting the source code for the
water ?

Man, that's good! Only thing to peck at would be the shadow.. you
should use orient and circular in the area light.

That trout looks almost AWESOME!
Is it a heightfield with an image map?

Get the fishing tackle!
That's excellent. I'm thinking it's missing something in the texture
somehow, but I might be thinking of reflection as seen above water.
I'd hate to have been the one to unwrap the skin off that fish for the scan.

It's pretty much a box with a bumpy texture on top and photons.

Now that would be an impressive feat! Nah, it's a patch model created in
Animation Master and exported to POV.

Oh, yes, I see, ah, and fog... Ooh, and 'clock' - does it animate well ?

Trout & Salmon have scales that really don't show up like other fish ...
it's much more like skin and very smooth, esp on a small fish and they
certainly aren't visible like on other species and very difficult to see
when in the water.
This render looks very realistic to me . . . outstanding.

Oh urg, and here I was about to go aghast at my
switching over to AM for my animation with your trout
here and I see you used AM as well... hehe... Well,
back to BPMF for me...
BTW: Beautiful texturing job on the trout.

For a modeling tool that is fantastic for organic
shapes such as this (and indeed used for this one)
check out: http://www.hash.com You'll find that a fish
shape like this is something you can do in about ten
minutes- the TEXTURING OTOH is where the real work
lies...

It took longer than 10 minutes to model. It took some time to work in the
details around the mouth and gills. It's like that with AM, you can get the
general look down real fast but making it look real from all angles takes
another hour or two at least.

I just meant that having had my share of POLYRAY and
POVray experience and now switching to AM for the bulk
of my work (play) I wouldn't want to approach modeling
that trout casually in POV the same way I would in AM-
especially if I intended to animate it. <sweat breaking
out with just the thought>
