Here is a sample of what I have been using, as you can see, there is a
distinct widening of the white stripe as the surface reaches horizontal.
Also, the cutaway shows that I need about twice or three times as many
layers. I am hoping someone can give me pointers (or code) for making an
isosurface function-to-pigment that will allow me to decrease the depth of
each white portion as the slope reaches horizontal.

    Or any other good way of fixing the increased width of the grid stripes
on the surface.
