After reading Rune's comments on slope_pattern I was going to play around
with it, but ended up updating an image from a couple of months back - wich
still doesn't use slope_pattern... Thanks Rune!

More of the same...

Made it slightly darker / grayer and add a tree - thanks to Gilles Tran and
his
Maketree macro...

Something still bothers me, though. Any suggestions?

Hmmm, "bothers" you? Maybe it's the overwhelming number of grave sites.
Seriously though, I think it needs more shadowing to be less flat, the fog
gives me mixed impressions with that sky and apparent lighting on the tree.
There's a early morning look to it and yet the sun seems to be at 9 a.m.
Maybe a different viewing angle in relation to the sunlight would help?
With a little variation in the sky as well.
I've been to Arlington National Cemetary in D.C., USA and so this reminds me
of that but it has been 27 years since then. Not sure I could render the
scenery accurately at all.

Interesting idea ...
would like to see the camera with some altitude and some hills in the
background . . . so the impression is of graves all the way to the
horizon in all directions. Could make quite a powerful statement, eh?

hehe . . . do the entire Earth . . .
