Thanks to the insistant poking of a few POVers, I've decided to start
posting the nicer stuff I do, something which I recently have not done
enough of. Don't think I've been idle (although I am POVing a lot less than
I used to). Mostly I've been busy with college and that little art project I
have which is due this month (or next, the guy isn't sure).

At any rate, this character was taken from the images at
http://zanyvg.overclocked.org/ According to the guy who runs the site (to
whom I offered the character in any pose he wanted), this little fellow
comes from a Megaman game I never played called Megaman Legends. He is a
"servbot" (whatever the heck that is) and apparently, in Japanese that is
"kobun" (I do not guarantee the correctfulness of any of this). I devised it
over a series of 3 or 4 nights. It took me 1.5 nights to model it, and the
remaining nights to animate and slightly remodel it to help me animate it.
This kobun is not your standard-issue kobun. It features Elboze* and Anklz*.
Neez* may come in a future version. I will be posting the short animation in
pba after I post this. Enjoy. :)

I like him. He looks kind of like a lego robot. I went to the web site
where you found the graphic, and I think you can do a few things to make him
more like the original. First, I think his head is too small around.
Second, the hands (claws?) have no way to close in your picture. If I am
seeing things correctly, in the original image (the one in the top left of
the web site), it looks like the red circle is the end of a hinge pin, and
the claws are separated with one in front and one behind, kind of like
scissors. Anyway, great work.

Sweet!

It does look a little like lego, but then again not that much (that's not a
bad thing).

I know it's supposed to be flat and toony, but I see you've used just a bit
of shading and I'd make that a bit stronger if it was me...

Anyway, thanks for sharing it!

I see him as mix of 45% Megaman, 55% Lego.

This is mostly an interpretation of the original. I took the picture on the
top left. I worked from there. Later on I saw the other images and saw I was
a bit off, but I'm leaving him as-is. The real claws are simple and ugly.
These look smoother and less menacing.

Thank you. :)

Maybe I could make a few more animations just for her. :)

I think 100% toony is a bit too flat. I like it to have just a hint of
shading to show it's not quite a 'toon. Too much and then it's too 3D.

My pleasure.

Cool: so like where's the shading algo?

Um, I used this finish, if that's what you wanted to know. finish {ambient
0.8 diffuse 0.2}

That simple? wasn't there a deal with two objects: how do you get the black
outline?
