I thought they were supposed to be a rough representation of ribs to
support the sking on the wing. Of course, this being LEGO, I could be
miles off in that guess.

Bye for now,
     Jamie.

I am allways impressed as how rendered lego looks so photo realsitic, what
did you create it with (or are you a hand-coding nut?)

So then I assume you're unfamiliar with amazing little utilities like LDraw
and L3P...

No, I have never tested these, because they don't work under Linux. I
also think such utilities spoils all the fun. :)

Not quite as interesting, as the technic model hanging from my ceiling,
but still very impressive. I can tell that it is a render, and not a
touched up photo from the lack of the word lego on the tops of undimpled
bricks. Was this an oversight, or a means to shorten render time
without much quality loss?

I don't have implemented the "lego" word yet, but I'm planning to. I
don't think it will increase the render time very much.

Watch out for trademark infringements. The Lego people are like Disney
where this is concerned.

Is it legal to take a picture of a lego model, where the "lego" word is
visible? If, yes, then what is the difference between that and to make
such a model?

Considering they didn't do anything when someone cracked their proprietary
robotics control language, I think you are fine. Lego it one of the
companies that gets it, they understand that you are only making their
product more popular.
